15 May Case History Catch-Up – Central Interceptor May Road Shaft A Installation completed – Dec 2023 (Posted 15.5.24)
In November last year we posted the delivery of the last four GRP shaft segments, 7B, 7C, 7D, 7E for the NZ Central Interceptor project May Road GRP cascade shaft A. These segments, the last units out of 23, completed the May Road shaft A installation in December, 2023.
The last five GRP manufactured segments were assembled above ground on-site to create a module 15.5m high. This 67-tonne module was installed in a single lift, down the excavated shaft, completing the 7.5m diameter by 70m deep GRP cascade structure. The annulus between the rock excavation and GRP modules was then back-filled with concrete by the GAJV team.
