50 Year History of RPC
1970s
Transfield RPC began operations as Reinforced Plastics/Composites Pty Ltd, establishing the foundations of what would become today’s RPC Technologies group of companies (RPC Group) and its long-term presence in engineering and manufacturing solutions.
1995
Manufacturing operations commenced on Batam Island, Indonesia, marking RPC’s first major offshore manufacturing investment..
1996
RPC established Singapore operations, strengthening its presence in South‑East Asia.
2002
Transfield RPC was acquired by investors including existing management and staff forming the modern RPC Group structure.
2004
RPC Technologies acquired Transform Rail Interiors (Broadmeadow), expanding the Group’s capability and footprint within the transport sector.
2007
Acquired the Permaglass Bore Casing Pump Column products and relocated the production to RPC Indonesia – Batam.
2010
The RPC Corio facility became fully operational and achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification, completing ISO certification across all RPC manufacturing facilities.
RPC Technologies also received the Hunter Manufacturing Excellence Award for Innovation, recognising advancements in vacuum infusion of passenger train cab fronts.
2011
RPC entered the renewable energy sector with the successful completion of the first Sea Urchin prototype.
In the same year, RPC Technologies and Nuplex Industries (Australia) formed a joint venture to establish RPC Pipe Systems, acquiring Fibrelogic Pipe Systems as part of the transaction.
2012
RPC Technologies won three Engineering Excellence Awards (Newcastle Division) for the development of the Sea Urchin technology.
2013
The RPC Group expanded further into South‑East Asia with the establishment of RPC International Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), strengthening regional capability and support.
2014
RPC Pipe Systems became a wholly owned subsidiary of RPC Technologies, consolidating the Group’s GRP pipe system capabilities.
2015
RPC was awarded a site services and maintenance contract at BHP Olympic Dam, reinforcing its position in major industrial asset support.
2017
RPC expanded manufacturing capacity at its Batam Island facility, supporting growing demand across South‑East Asian operations.
2019
RPC expanded into India, establishing RPC India operations and securing two new projects with Alstom Transport, further strengthening its global rail sector presence.
2020
RPC awarded the Central Interceptor Cascade Shafts project, valued at $42 million and recognised as the largest diameter and deepest GRP shafts constructed globally.
During the same year, RPC established RPC Technologies (NZ) Ltd, launched Asset Services, Condition Assessment and Maintenance Services for GRP assets, and secured the exclusive UltraAnalytix® licence from UT Comp for Australia, New Zealand, and South‑East Asia.
2023
The RPC Group achieved record post‑COVID turnover in excess of $100 million, reflecting resilience, diversification, and sustained market demand.
2024
RPC Technologies Sells RPC Pipe Systems to Amiblu Holdings Pty Ltd, marking a strategic realignment within the Group’s portfolio.
2025
RPC India’s standalone manufacturing facility commenced operations, reinforcing the Group’s long‑term commitment to international markets and scalable capability.
