29 Sep Heavy Duty Mine Vent Duct (HDMVD)
During a recent site visit, one of RPC’s long-standing mining customers asked us to solve an intermittent issue affecting standard Mine Vent Duct installed close to the main fan unit. The challenge was clear: develop a durable solution for this demanding location.
Working with the mine, RPC defined the requirements for a long-term solution. These included an alternative duct length and clear visual identification so teams could distinguish the new product from standard MVD throughout storage, handling and installation.
RPC completed the design, development and testing at its Broadmeadow, NSW facility. The result was a 2.4-metre Heavy Duty Mine Vent Duct (HDMVD) engineered to withstand significantly higher negative pressure than standard MVD. For easy identification, the duct features black stripes on its tangerine body, with product stencilling changed to bright blue.
RPC delivered the new HDMVD within a focused, structured timeframe. Customer feedback has been exceptional, and following its release for general use, other mining operations have adopted the HDMVD and fittings as long-term underground solutions.
