Coombabah STP win for RPC and Azzuro

RPC has been awarded the contract by Acciona to supply an Odour Control System (OCS) inclusive of the foul air collection system (covers and ducting) for the Coombabah Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Stage 6 upgrade on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The contract includes the Design, manufacture and installation of three Bio-Trickling Filters (BTF’s), 800m of foul air collection duct and 600m2 flat trafficable covers. The synthetic spacious wire pac media BTF is supplied by Azzuro, RPC’s technology partner who are also responsible for the design and the performance of the BTF’s.

The Coombabah STP is the largest on the Gold Coast, servicing approximately 330,000 people or around 50% of the city’s sewage. Recent catchment assessments identified that due to expected growth projections the treatment plant is near capacity and needed to be upgraded. Work is underway with completion expected in early 2022.

Tony Caristo said, “This is a great win for the RPC engineering and Infrastructure teams and Azzuro. It follows on from similar projects we are working on in Queensland. Congratulations goes to the team members: Paul Sproules, Marie Domingo, Ozhan Tuncay (Project Manager), Simon Karpeles, John Williams, Juan Perez de Obanos, Daniel Lai, Manu Khatibi and Alex Henry.”
