Celebrating Local Industry on Melbourne’s Next Generation Tram Journey

Last Friday, Tony Caristo travelled to Melbourne to attend the Alstom Supplier Day for the Next Generation Tram (NGT) Project at Maidstone Depot. The event brought together suppliers and industry partners to see the first NGT in service and experience firsthand the collective effort behind its delivery.

The day highlighted the vital role of collaboration in delivering innovative, sustainable, locally manufactured and reliable transport solutions that will help shape the future of Melbourne’s public transport network.

It is always rewarding to see a strong focus on local content and in this case, Victorian manufacturing throughout the NGT program. RPC is proud to contribute to this initiative by manufacturing in our Corio facility, the large front end and roof hood assembly fitted to the front of the tram. This project highlights the capability of local manufacturers and demonstrates the value of investing in Victorian industry, skilled jobs, and regional supply chains.

Thank you to Alstom and Department of Transport for hosting a well-organised and informative event. We look forward to continuing to support projects that help shape the future of public transport across Australia.
