The project
The St Marys Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) covers part of Sydney Water’s Lower South Creek programme. Working with our customer AdaptJV (Sydney Water, UGL and WSP), RPC was responsible for the design, manufacture, delivery, installation and commissioning of the odour control facility.
The challenge
Foul air had to be collected from the liquid stream (inlet works and primary treatment) and from the solids stream (dewatering plant), treated, and released to the atmosphere — on a project that commenced at the beginning of Covid-19.
What RPC did
RPC’s scope of work included the engineering, manufacture, delivery, installation and commission for odour control units, ductwork, covers and vent stack — a project that uniquely showcases our breadth of skills and capacity across all requirements for odour control projects.
- Three AZZURO TR36-5 bio-trickling filters
- Four RPC2650D activated carbon units
- Duct support system
- GRP ducting ranging from DN100 to DN1200 (total 1,750m) and dampers
- Associated fans and instrumentation
- More than 1,500 m² of flat trafficable aluminium 5kPa covers and GRP non-trafficable covers
The outcome is a highly efficient system capable of treating 42,900 m³/hr of foul air, with all air treated before being released to the atmosphere through a 1.2m diameter, 18-metre-high GRP stack.
